Architects of their own growing success story OVER the past few years, the Inverness-based firm of G H Johnston Building Consultants has continued to make its mark both in the Highlands and further afield. Established in 1975 by Gary Johnston, the consultancy became a limited company in 1995, and with Mr Johnston still at the helm as managing director, has since expanded to incorporate three main divisions-architectural design and detailing, building management and health and safety, and planning and resource.
As the business continues to go from strength to strength, the company is looking to cement its place in the national marketplace by going on-line with its own web site www.ghjohnston.com At the click of a button, prospective clients have direct access to information on the company's full range of architectural and planning services.
On the architectural side G H Johnston offers a design and detailing service for a wide range of private and corporate clients, backed up by a staff team who have many years' experience in practical design specifications and a wealth of site expertise. Current projects include the building and renovation of hotels, leisure centres, office blocks for hi-tech industries, shops, restaurants, supermarkets and housing developments.
As well as being able to offer professional advice, the company can also undertake feasibility studies, project planning and local authority submissions. On the technical side G H Johnston can provide building contract advice and administration, clerk of works, building certification, site inspection and product specification.
The company, which operates from three floors of office space in Inverness city centre, can also provide an agency service for other professional bodies-whether it's architectural and technical drawing, planning or supervising site work. There are also links with other associated qualified companies such as chartered engineers, quantity and building surveyors, and landscape designers. This extends to associations with architects' practices in Glasgow and the south of England.
Although based in the Highlands, the company can undertake work across Scotland and the United Kingdom with computer communications providing the facility for drawings and documents to be e-mailed directly to clients, wherever their location. |
